I’ve been working with floral decals for quite some time, and lace is a staple, but I’ve never put them together, until now! I love the combination and it seems you guys do too. This new range has been super popular and I think they make the perfect birthday, engagement or wedding gift. Sweet and girly and totally unique.

The start of the new year is always the perfect time for me to try out new ideas that have been simmering at the back of my mind. From September to December I’m so busy with orders for Christmas and keeping up with demand for decorations that all else is pushed to the back burner. January brings some breathing room and time for getting back to letting the creativity flow.
Here are a few pieces that have come out of the kiln in January that are new to my range. I’m especially loving the organic shaped nesting bowls and testing out some new glazes.

If you’ve been thinking about a special gift for your child’s teacher, grandparent, special friend or something for your own tree, then you better get moving! It won’t be long until I won’t be taking more orders for personalised decorations. One of these special decorations goes through lots of processes before it’s ready to ship to you. First it’s rolled, cut and dried for several days, then sanded and refined. Next is to fire in the kiln for 15 hours, with another 8 hours for the kiln to cool. Then it’s 2 coats of glaze before being fired again. Finally, I add your special wording then it’s back into the kiln for a 3rd firing before being wrapped, boxed and posted. Phew, that’s a lot of work!
There are lots of personalised options this year with lots of choices to make. From glaze colour to ribbon colour, decoration shape to bead finish. You can customise your decoration to get just the result you are after. Here are a few of the options:
If you are after a ready to go gift, I’ve got you covered for that too. From ring dishes to fridge magnets, decorations to bowls. Any ready to ship item will be posted the next business day.
It’s a scary thing, but Christmas is only 10 weeks away!
I spend months and months preparing for the silly season, making hundreds of decorations. I have some brand new designs for this year’s personalised range of ornaments that are the perfect gift for family members (especially Nan and Pop) and are great for teacher’s gifts. And don’t forget that special family decoration for your own tree.
Here are some of the personalised designs for 2016
The idea came to me one sunny Sunday afternoon. I had planted up some herbs in my back garden, which I’d been meaning to do for about 2 years! I wanted my 8-year-old to be involved and know the names of the different herbs so thought I’d make some herb markers. After playing around with a few designs I settled on the ice cream cones because they are so fun! Both of the designs you see here are now listed in my Etsy and Madeit stores if you’d like a set of your own.
I’ve always loved mesmerising and intricate shapes of mandalas and wondered how I could incorporate them into my designs. After much thought over several months I decided to carve my own design into a round slab of plaster which I could then roll my porcelain clay over to transfer the design onto the clay.
First I sketched out a design and then got to carving. This was a long and slow process as the plaster is quite hard and not easy to carve into.
Next was to roll my porcelain clay over the design which transfers the pattern onto the clay as a raised impression. Here is a raw plate drying.
After firing the plate, I glazed in a translucent green which was perfect to highlight the mandala pattern.
I also left one white and detailed one with 22k gold luster.

With the new year comes a little more downtime and a chance to work on new ideas that have been brewing in my mind.
I’d been wanting to make a set of dinnerware that was definitely not conventional, but still functional and beautiful. I am so happy with how these came out! They can be used as traditional dinnerware for serving main meals and dessert or entree or as a cheese board, antipasto platter or sweets. When not in use, don’t hide them away, put them out as a table centerpiece with candles or treats on them.
I have 2 sets of these available in my Etsy shop, but feel free to contact me for custom orders on larger amounts.
